DRIVER CHARGED WITH DWI IN QUEENS CRASH THAT KILLED PASSENGER
A 28-year-old woman has been charged with DWI and vehicular manslaughter after the car she was driving rear-ended another vehicle in a Queens crash, killing her passenger and injuring the driver of the other vehicle.
Police said that the driver facing charges — Sharlene Numa of Roosevelt – was also injured in the wreck, which occurred near South Conduit Avenue and Brookville Boulevard in Rosedale, Queens. Numa was driving a 2014 Infiniti sedan east on Belt Parkway when she rear-ended a Mercedes driven by an 18-year-old man.
The impact of the crash flipped the Infiniti, killing Kendall Heard, 29, of Freeport, who was a passenger in the Infiniti. Heard was pronounced dead at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center.
The unidentified driver of the Mercedes was taken to North Shore-LIJ Health System Franklin Hospital in Valley Stream in stable condition with injuries.
